There is a lot of fear of the future at this point and that is the subject of this horse tip of week: conquering fear. Fear and self-preservation are at the center of horsemanship. They are the root cause of most of a horse's behavior. Humans take this for granted in the horse as well as in themselves.

Hello,
My Name is Murfi. I was rescued January 28 as a stray. I was probably an abandoned pet or dumped, because I was very dirty and matted and hungry.
I am about 10-12 years old, neutered, and recently had shots and worming and four teeth pulled!! I am very loveable and really like to be brushed so I am looking better all the time. I even like children!!

Warren Buffett Blog - Union Pacific Railroad this week began pulling mothballed railcars out of storage in Wallowa County as its business picks up. Some 150 cars were moved off Wallowa Union Railroad tracks this week and another 75 have been ordered by UP for next week, Mark Davidson, Union County commissioner and the railroad's general manager, said Friday, Jan. 29. |

THE DALLES, Ore. – Fisheries managers announced today there will be a sport fishing season for spring chinook salmon on the Deschutes River beginning April 1, 2010. According to Rod French, district fish biologist with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, managers are predicting a return of 2,000 wild spring chinook to the Deschutes River this year. This compares to last year’s projected return of 400 wild fish, which prompted the cancellation of the 2009 spring sport fishing season. |

Chance to win special deer, elk or pronghorn tag SALEM, Ore.— The deadline for hunters to report results for their 2009 fall big game and turkey tags is Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Hunters need to report on each deer, elk, pronghorn, bear, cougar and turkey tag purchased—even if they did not harvest an animal or go hunting and even if they were contacted by ODFW during a telephone harvest survey. ODFW uses the information to assess harvest rates and set hunting seasons.
