Frontier Communications donates ECSA winnings to Community Connections

Frontier Communications, Wallowa County’s  “new local telephone service provider“, was one of the 60 plus businesses and individuals that helped Eagle Cap Shooters Association make their Cowboy Mounted Shoot very successful this last 4th of July weekend. All contributors were entered in the “Lucky 10” Sponsor Spectacular.

Frontier Communications placed 8th in the competition and donated to winnings of $130.00 back to Community Connection’s “Back to School Supply Program” for our local students in Wallowa County.

“We believe strongly in supporting local communities through events and volunteerism.” said Scott Wimp local area manager for Union and Wallowa counties.

Frontier  was a major sponsor for the event bringing 65 of the nations best Cowboy Mounted Shooters for the 3 day competition.

During the event , each sponsor had a blind draw of two shooters assigned to them and the two man teams that had the fastest team times won cash for the sponsor that they were drawn to with a total of ten places being paid out. A $2500 jackpot was paid out to the “Lucky 10” sponsors. 1st place received $500 and was won by Gary Zollman of Zollmans “Larry Burd” Well Drilling of Pendleton.

Other winners include The Stubborn Mule and Paul’s Chevron of Joseph, OR , MGM targets of Caldwell, ID, Don Schaeffer Sr and Schaeffer Automotive of Wallowa, OR, ATK CCI/Speer of Lewiston, ID ,Richard Underwood of Lostine, OR, Dave Haworth of Enterprise, OR, and Frontier Communications.

Frontier also sponsored the fast paced and exciting Cowboy Mounted Shooting exhibition at the Saturday night performance for the Chief Joseph Days rodeo. Rick Hagen and Nicole Jones-Mulligan, who was on the 1990 CJD court, entertained the rodeo spectators in a Pony Express style race firing six shooters from horseback at balloons. Hagen is a local repair technician for Frontier and has been mounted shooting for 12 years.
