Pea to golf ball size hail with thunder and lightning storm races through Enterprise and Joseph

Pea sized hail could be picked up right in front of Timberline Realty, in Joseph, Ore, after a serious lightning storm raced from Enterprise to Joseph heading east.
JOSEPH, Ore — Just after 2 p.m. a huge and dangerous lightning storm raced through Enterprise and Joseph bringing pea to golf ball sized hail and severe lightning.
Rancher Jeff Parker from Highview Angus Ranch reported that his Dad Dave was just ready to get out the way of the storm when lightning hit so close to him that he saw sparks flying. His hands were still hurting half an hour later from the electrical magnitude lightning strikes put out.
The radar map showed a serious cell coming in from the west and heading directly east towards the Seven Devils. No injuries have been reported at press time.
PP&L is aware of power outages in isolated areas throughout the county and is already working on emergency repairs. Most of the power outages should be resolved by 5:30 p.m.

The power outages reminded me to buy a cheap, regular phone that rings even when the electricity is out. The only phone that worked at the ranch was my cell phone but I couldn’t use it to call my neighbors to see if they were okay. Why? They don’t have cell phones and like me, do not have a phone in the house that can ring when the power is out. Technology ain’t what it is cracked up to be. In my haste to buy and install multiple handset phones that do everything but make my coffee (or at least the set I have does not), I forgot about safety.
